Girls in Hawaii

Belgian indie pop outfit magnifique

Belgian indie pop outfit Girls in Hawaii formed in 2000 around the talents of sibling pairs Antoine and Denis Wielemans and Lionel and Brice Vancauwenberghe, along with friends Christophe Léonard and Daniel Offerman. The group’s heady blend of neo-psychedelic pop and alternative rock drew comparisons to Grandaddy, the Flaming Lips, and Blonde Redhead in the French media, and by 2002 the band had signed with Brussels-based 62TV Records. Girls in Hawaii released Found in the Ground: The Winter EP and the full-length From Here to There in 2003, followed by Plan Your Escape in 2008. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
After a few years of silence and a tragedy that hit the group, they decided to work together again in 2013. With their untamed nature, they first made a comeback at Deep in The Woods Festival, a place that feels like home for them. Happy about their reunion with the public, they recorded their new album in three sessions at an ancient Manor near Paris and handed it over to legend producer Tchad Blake. The Result is ‘Everest’,  Girls in Hawaii’s 3rd album that got them great reviews all over Europe, resulting in many sold out shows and slots at festivals like Pukkelpop, Iceland Airwaves, Motel Mozaique, Sziget, Paleo, Lokerse Feesten, Rockhal, Europavox, Dour (x5), etc…
