Tamino is a singer/guitarist/pianist from Antwerp. He makes sober, melancholic music, often slow in tempo, always rich in expression. Tamino, named after the protagonist in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, is born in Antwerp (1996) as Tamino-Amir Moharam Fouad, as the son to a Belgian mother and an Egyptian father, and spent his early youth in both countries. His interest for the stage and love for music come from his mother who already got him acquainted with opera and theatre during his childhood. His musical genes come from his father: Tamino’s grandfather is the (in the Arabic world) very famous singer/actor Moharam Fouad (1934 – 2002). It is inevitable that Tamino’s background silts through in his music. His compositions are expressive and not weaned from drama, besides there’s an unmistakable desert wind blowing through his music.
A first release is in preparation and is planned for 2017.
