From the day she was born, it was clear for Luna Mae that making music is her calling in life. Her father was one of her biggest inspirations throughout her childhood, being an artist and having supported big acts like U2. Singers like Erykah Badu, Whitney Houston, India Arie & Amy Winehouse have inspired and influenced Luna, which you can clearly hear in her own sound.
Her amazing voice got the attention of Lakecia Benjamin (Stevie Wonder & Macy Gray), who asked her to be the lead singer for her performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2013. In 2014, Luna Mae released her first solo single ‘Butterfly’, followed by her first EP ‘Sky’ (prod. by Gino-Cochise) in 2015. The single ‘Sugar’ led her to be chosen as the new Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent.
The talented singer travelled the world with artists like Waylon, Typhoon and Ronnie Flex, playing big festivals like Lowlands, Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands and Curaçao). Next to writing all of her own music, Luna Mae has also edited all of her video’s herself. As a songwriter, she co-writes with and for other artists as well.
In the summer of 2018, she released her solo single ‘Special Friend’ followed by ‘Scintilla’ with Jarreau Vandal, who she toured through Europe with. A great way for her to re-introduce herself to the world, which is only a small taste of what you can expect from her upcoming EP, which is set to be released in the spring of 2019.
